Cut The Cord: The Best Television Streaming Services
In addition to the great lineup of shows and movies that you can watch for free with your Amazon Prime membership, Amazon also recently expanded their Amazon Channels lineup. Add over 115 channels of on-demand content to your Prime membership, including HBO, Starz, Showtime, and Cinemax, as well as well-known favorites like TLC, PBS, Comedy Central Stand-Up, and Fear Factory.
You can watch most, if not all, Amazon Channels on your laptop, computer, tablet, or mobile device. That means you can watch at home or on the go.
Channels are purchased in a true a la carte fashion where you pay only for the channels you want. That means you can subscribe to HBO, Cinemax, and for Fullscreen and get the most popular movies, shows, and original series for just $31 a month.
There is no annual contract and you can easily cancel, unsubscribe, or subscribe to additional channels. It’s all up to you.
I have to point out the obvious word of caution. If you subscribe to every channel, or even just most of them, you are going to spend a lot of money in the long run. Subscribe to all 18 featured channels will set you back $110 alone. Add to that the 20 entertainment, 15 learn and discover, 9 health and wellness, 10 kids, 7 performance, 6 horror, 13 sports and outdoors, and 19 other channels, and your monthly bill will be well beyond what you might pay for a normal television service.
You also won’t find many of your favorite cable channels here, like HGTV, Food Network, Cartoon Network, or any local sports or news channels.
Amazon Channels are an excellent option if you want a streamlined service of just a few specific channels. However, you may not want to go this route if you are looking for a large assortment of cable favorites. Overall, it is an excellent add-on service if you are in the market for specific content like anime, movies, or fitness programs and don’t want to have to upgrade your cable service to the highest tier to access these specialty channels.
Right now, you can get a free 7-day trial to your favorite Amazon Channels. Try it out and see what you think.
