100 Days of Code: Day 36

I tried to break the internet with a pound sign... well, maybe not the internet. But my recently complete FCC portfolio project wasn't happy.

I was not expecting to start and finish this portfolio project in one day. I thought for sure I would have to finish it tomorrow, but I am getting faster and better at this, so it didn’t take nearly as long. I even had a relatively big issue with my code and was able to resolve it in plenty of time to submit the project today.[/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=”The Bad:” font_container=”tag:h3|text_align:left” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]If you follow me on Twitter, you know that today did not go exactly as planned.

Shortly after tweeting this, I realized that the problem was actually a missing pound sign inside one of my navigation links. It was causing the JavaScript test functions to try to navigate to that page, which of course doesn’t exist as it was supposed to be an internal reference to a div section within my page.

In any case, I found the problem relatively quickly once I took a step back and really started examining the code, line by line. I’ll admit, it was frustrating, but these things do happen from time to time, and it’s always a relief when they are finally sorted.[/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=”Notes/Comments:” font_container=”tag:h3|text_align:left” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]I took a very simple approach to this portfolio project. Since I already have a portfolio, I just approached it as being a portfolio for just my Codepen projects and pens.

I chose to use a placeholder graphic in my project tiles, rather than spending a lot of time sourcing or creating images. This wasn’t really laziness, per say, but just not wanting to deal with uploading several temporary images to my own server since I am not going to spring for a Codepen pro membership (and uploading images is not possible with a free plan).

In any case, as with the other FCC projects, you can view the code and a preview of the site below, or view the full page in another window/tab.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text][codepen_embed height=”500″ theme_id=”33690″ slug_hash=”oywqOz” default_tab=”html,result” user=”ablissfullemon”]See the Pen Free Code Camp Portfolio by Aimie | Blissful Lemon 🍋🌺 (@ablissfullemon) on CodePen.[/codepen_embed][/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=”Important Links” font_container=”tag:h3|text_align:left” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]
